Queen City Grill Restaurant
The owners pride themselves on one of Seattle's finest destinations for a fine glass of wine.
An upscale neighborhood restaurant located at 2201 1st Avenue, Seattle, Washington

Interior
This is one of Seattle's classiest and most crowded bars. Those sipping champagne or smooth cocktails are bathed in a rosy hue, with fluted lights, flowers, linen-clad tables and cozy booths, which provide for quite an intimate situation. A velvet rope out front, and long waits in line, attest to this as one of Seattle's favorite places. It's a place for those wanting to "see and be seen," yupsters, and the quintessential Belltown artist. On weekends, the friendliest, best bartenders shower guests with charm, wit and grace, remembering you by face if not by name.
  Exterior

The menu is reasonably priced, and all fish preparations are consistently delicious. The wine list deserves mention, as does the staff. If you want or need something that isn't on the menu, or you'd like to tweak a recipe or two they do their very best to accommodate.

With Belltown quickly becoming the trendiest neighborhood in Seattle and new restaurants arriving monthly, the Queen City Grill continues to reign as one of the area's favorite spots. For a decade, this restaurant, housed in an 87-year-old brick building, has wooed urbanites with cocktails, grilled fresh fish, and ritzy "see-and-be-seen" atmosphere. Slide into a high-backed wooden booth--each with a private window view--listen to piano jazz and soak in the warm tangerine glow cast by triangular wall lamps. Wine bottles by the hundreds frame the elegant, lacquered bar, a testament to why Queen City recently won Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence for their selection.

Fish is at the forefront of the menu, although lamb chops, Jamaican-spiced chicken, and New York steak also line the grill. Consider starting with a Northwest classic, Dungeness crabcakes framed by a crescent of roasted red pepper and garlic aioli. On the Southern side of things, a longtime menu favorite, chicken gumbo, is filled with andouille sausage, okra, and topped with wild rice. Queen City's philosophy is simple, "We grill fish," and they do so skillfully. Try the mixed seafood grill, a combination of house specialties, including salmon adorned with arugula pesto, ahi tuna in a creamy pepper sauce, and prawn and scallop satays with spicy Szechwan marinade. Two nightly seafood specials typically bring salmon and Chilean sea bass to the table. However, on a recent visit mahi mahi served as a centerpiece, encrusted with Creole spices, seared and surrounded by a chili-lime sauce. Desserts will delight any sweet tooth. Sourdough bread pudding topped with hot butter-rum sauce and mocha crème caramel complete with Belgium chocolate are superb.

Bar The bar at Queen City Grill. One of their bartenders won Seattle's Best Bartender by CitySearch the Best Readers' Poll, and was also selected as one of the top bartenders in the world by Bon Appetit. They offer a full bar preparing all your favorite mixed drinks, beer, and wine. An extensive wine list of over 600 wines from Italy, France, California, and the Northwest.

They recently became one of the first Washington State restaurants ever to be awarded Wine Spectator's prestigious "Best of" Award of Excellence. Enjoy wines by the bottle or the glass. They offer sixteen different single malt scotches, six brands of whiskey, ten brands of cognac, and various Armagnac.

"This 'high-energy' 'Belltown landmark' is always 'jam-packed'; the 'see-and-be-seen' crowd oozes 'urban chic' as it 'bellies up to the bar' or confabs at 'intimate' booths, sipping 'great wines' and taking advantage of the 'consistently good' seafood-centric NW grill menu." --Zagat
